Other operation in Normandy

In parallel of staying on the beach, a part of the unit went to Saint-Lo for helping the population and Army. Evacuation of the wounded soldiers was the daily job in this small city but practically completely destroyed.

After a long period to work directly on the beach men of the 348th were employed to help on the Mulberry “B” in Arromanches with English troops.

Then around August, they were sent to Cherbourg to be reequipped. They thought to be transported in Pacific, but later another order arrived with new direction: Battle of Bulge.
